LA LA LA – MACARONS!
There’s a running joke among my friends – the spelling of the coconut “macaroon” vs. the French almond flour-based “macaron” – one is not like the other and you will conjure up the ire of people who will be quick to tell you when you’ve misused the wrong name for this dessert.
Well this post is all things macaron – specifically the Mickey-shaped macarons that you can find at Disneyland’s Jolly Holiday Bakery, right at the end of Main Street U.S.A. While most people post photos of the Mickey-shaped raspberry macaron (which features a nice layer of fresh strawberries in the center of the dessert), I’m usually a fan of trying their seasonal flavors. As an Annual Passholder, I like to inject some variety into my visits, and one way to do that is to try limited time offerings.
The two macarons pictured above are two different flavors – the first being the meyer lemon & blueberry macaron and the other being the chocolate hazelnut macaron. Every few months, the Jolly Holiday bakery will come up with a different macaron flavor and I’m always eager to see what they are! This month, the macaron flavor is Salted Caramel:
I have a slight obsession with holding up my Mickey macarons to get a good pic with the Disneyland backdrop. They are adorable and delicious! I usually go to Jolly Holiday Bakery for the Jolly Holiday combo as well, but when you’re looking for a sweet treat to indulge in, the Mickey macaron can’t be beat. Next time, I’ll have to try the Matterhorn macaroon!
