Are you looking for your next outing for Sunday Funday in Orange County? Taking a cue from its sister location in The Lab Costa Mesa, Habana at Irvine Spectrum is officially launching Sunday brunch – weekly from 10-3pm – beginning this upcoming Sunday, January 14th, 2018!
This past weekend, I was invited as a media guest to experience the incredible Cuban-inspired brunch buffet offered at Habana Irvine Spectrum. The restaurant, which was designed to resemble a retro Cuban mansion, offers a taste of Cuba in the heart of Irvine. We were seated in the courtyard patio, surrounded by giant palm fronds and coral umbrellas that make you feel like you’ve been whisked away to Cuba. Toto, we’re not in Irvine anymore!
Pricing for brunch begins at $38 for adults and $19 for children under the age of 10 – drinks are not included in this price but you can purchase sparkling wines, rum-infused coconuts, or Cuban coffees to satisfy your thirst. I enjoyed just a whole coconut, plain, as this pregnant lady can’t have any booze!
The buffet offers an impressive array of hot food. On one side, there was roasted pig with freshly made chicharrones, beans and rice, fried fish, shredded Cuban pork, sauteed carrots – lots of piping hot Cuban dishes.
The brunch buffet also offers a made-to-order omelette station, but be prepared for long waits if you get there and many people want to get an omelette made!
Turn the corner and you’ll be face-to-face with fresh cut fruit, pastries of all different kinds, and even bagels with cream cheese and some retro toasters. Off to the side, a ‘cold’ bar with shrimp cocktail, fried plantains, and stone crab claws await.
Of course, no brunch is complete without mentioning the dessert table – and what a spread they had! I had trouble deciding on which desserts to get. It seemed like the most popular item was the chocolate tiramisu in an edible cup. However, I grabbed some flan, banana pudding, key lime pie in a glass, a guava danish, and some fresh berries.
Don’t worry, I wasn’t dining alone! My husband was my guest at this event and was able to share quite a few items with me. We had a wonderful experience getting to try all of the different foods on hand. I couldn’t believe the different options that Habana offered during brunch. This is definitely a Sunday Funday you don’t want to miss out on!
Reservations are highly recommended if you want to take advantage of this killer brunch buffet. I can see why the Costa Mesa location’s brunch was honored with “Best Brunch of 2017”. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place is packed every Sunday. There is no shortage of food and everyone in your dining party will find a dish they like from this incredible spread.
Many thanks to the 100 Eats team for the invitation to this media event. All opinions remain my own!
